There is a lot that you can do and taking even small steps can really make a difference. There are many simple things in your yard and around your house to prepare yourself in the event you have to leave quickly. There are also suggestions of things you can do to harden your home so that it might survive so you could have a home to come back to.
So take a few minutes to explore some valuable information.
Create zones:
0–5 ft ember‑resistant
5–30 ft lean/green
30–100 ft reduced fuel. Space trees and shrubs away from structures.

Maintain at least 100 ft (or to property line) of reduced vegetation; remove dead plants, prune low limbs, and clear roofs and gutters.

Thin dense vegetation, remove ladder fuels, chip or green‑waste haul. Coordinate block‑by‑block for best results.
